Fight Club A confused young man with no family or friends frequents cancer and disease support groups as a way to bond with others. He accomplishes this by pretending to be terminally ill or feigning various other infirmities to fit in. Sick of his dead end white collar corporate career and disgusted with the empty consumer culture that his generation has been doomed to inherit, he and a very devious friend, The Fight Club's founder, quickly becomes a cult hero of epic proportions, a new messiah for a dead generation. 135 minutes, No persons under 18 (Violence). Ian Douglas: A difficult movie to rate. It *is* good, however the twist near the end stretches credibility beyond breaking point. At times it comes across as a black comedy, but the humour is *really* dark, and laughing is difficult. At the beginning I thought it was something like Jonathan Livingstone Seagull brought up to date, but the philosophy goes *way* beyond anything Jonathan ever taught... Guinevere Vos: The twist at the end was a bit of a stretch and for hours after I watched the movie I tried to think back on it's credibility. Also not as violent and controversial as expected. Good movie. Debbie Booysen (24): This is a movie that you simply HAVE to see twice to get the full impact of how brilliant it really is. Don Bode: A most unusual movie with a style all of its own it is strange yet brilliant in it's concept. Stuart Mann (23): Fantastic movie providing an insight into how cults start and the attractiveness of 'something different and exciting' to the average man in the street. Have to admit that the 'twist' is fairly transparent and does seem to have some flaws, but still it does not detract from the overall movie. There are some very graphic fight scenes which may disturb some viewers. Morgan Commins (23): This movie rocked! The amount of thought one spends thinking about the movie AFTERWARDS far outways its lenghty 135 minutes. Not for the squeamish. Blows Sixth Sense and its paltry twist out of the water. Not a pretty movie, but a thought-provoking gem. Certainly not the usual hollywood schlupp. The action rocked too. Overall highly recommended. Melissa Boltman: I think it is brilliant. Brad Pitt was the actor for the movie. Colin Streit (34): A brilliantly made movie. Pitt & Norton are superb. The twist at the end does what it is intended to do. It did however make me re-evaluate what I had seen previously. Was not nearly as gruesome as advertised. Ferdi Cloete (20): Okay so it's twisted and far fetched -- the twist that is -- but it is food for thought and this was Edward Norton's best preformance to date. There is some relevance but it's mostly mindless action -- beautiful. Wolf Johnson (29): Brad Pitt's acting is about as convincing as a block of wood. Dave Watson (45): A movie that I will have to sell hard in my shops - but sell hard I will. The true brilliance of the script comes out after second viewing. This is right up there with American History X with true insights into the male mind and the problems facing modern man. When you realise that [spoiler cut - Ian], then you start to see the true brilliance of the script and acting. Nicole Solarsh (27): Highly impactful - makes you wake up realise you should start living! Martin Svec (22): This is a movie of the 21th century. It forces you to think about that afterwards and when you watch again and again you always find something new and notice the details of perfection. All three actors acting very good. Steven Bley (21): This movie is amazing. It changed my life. Imran Simmins (25): Perhaps, one of the most brilliant movies of all times. The type of movie you'll either hate or love and I loved every last minute of it. Clayton Petersen (28): How far can humans go inside themselves and create illusions that seem to become real. This movie examines the frailty and strength of the human spirit. What attracts us to movies like these, whether we like them or not, is that we realise that we are all capable of becoming a "Tyler Durden", but most of us are too afraid to let this person "become". So I say find yourself, your true self, and let this person become part of you.
