Carter finally has enough of his father's abuse toward himself and his mother. After one final confrontation with his father, he takes his mother and younger brother Ellis and they flee their home.Years later, after their mother passes away, Carter and Ellis are living in New Mexico. Ellis ia a photography student who loves taking pictures of mountains. Carter is working to support the two of them. After Ellis is diagnosed with leukemia and Carter is not a match for a bone marrow transplant, Ellis persuades his brother to travel back to their home in Tennessee to see if their estranged father is a match. Ellis won't survive without a bone marrow transplant.
