Paperback Hero

Paperback Hero Jack Willis is a handsome roadtrain driver with a secret - he has just become a top selling romance novelist. However, being a ''man's man'' in the Australian outback, to avoid embarrassment, he needs a pseudonym, a woman's name -- and chooses that of his best friend, ''Ruby Vale''. He must do some fancy footwork to continue the charade when the glamorous city publisher, Ziggy Keane, arrives in dusty outback Lucktown to sign ''Ruby Vale'' to a major book deal. But first Jack must convince the real Ruby Vale, a feisty, young, crop-dusting pilot, to play along with him.

Ruby's fiancé, Hamish, the local vet, isn't so keen on her heading off to the city with a truckie, on a whirlwind tour to promote a book he didn't even know she'd written! But Jack's a sweet-talker and soon everyone is drawn into his game of mistaken identity. Like two fish out of water, Jack and Ruby are drawn closer together as they cope with the media attention and hustle and bustle of big city life. Jack is also flattered by the attentions of the amorous Ziggy and a comedy of romantic errors ensues.

But Jack and Ruby have a secret, one they've shared forever. A secret so closely guarded -- they've never even told themselves.
