There's nothing that can put a crimp in your day like being a passenger on a doomed, capsized luxury liner ...
However, the cast of Poseidon seems pretty level-headed and know exactly what to do in this sort of situation. One can only assume that they have all seen the original 1972 Poseidon Adventure, of which this movie is a remake — how else can you explain all the derring do? Would you act this bravely if it were you on that doomed luxury liner? Probably not ... Minor kibbles aside (the dodgy CGI rendered ship in the opening sequence) Poseidon is actually quite the white knuckle ride as they say. Unlike the recent King Kong, the setup is pretty brief and it isn't long before the action kicks off and our group of intrepid heroes are clambering about the sinking upside-down ship escaping death in the form of drowning, fire and electrocution. It is all rather well-done and suspenseful — think Titanic, but without the boring romantic bits and you'll know what to expect of Poseidon. One misstep though is overplaying the ''child in peril'' card since everyone knows that there is an unwritten rule in Hollywood that says no harm shall befall children and animals. Still, Poseidon is one boat trip that you wouldn't want to miss — check it out!
