The Artist

The Artist
This highly-praised and decorated film is set in 1927, at the dawn of the 'talkies'. A dashing silent movie star faces the prospect of his career crashing due to his bad speaking voice, while at the same time, the situation is completely different for the young starlet that he is involved with. We follow as their intertwined destinies play out. Note that the film is 'silent' and in monochrome.

C. Fuchs quote iconHaving watched this first for our award voting purposes and then again for this review, I liked the film even more the second time around. For this reviewer, that's saying something, and this film says a lot, without saying nearly any words. It's one of the best of 2011
