Hall Pass

One week. No rules.

Hall Pass
The Farrelly brother are back with an attempt to reclaim the crown as king of the raunchy/gross-out comedies. The set-up involves two long-time married couples, who have lost interest in sex. The wives are advised by a shrink to give the husbands free reign for a week, so the women and kids head off on holiday, leaving the two men to pretend they are twenty-something players. Naturally they soon learn that they've lost their touch... Expect a lot of toilet humour and typical Farrelly stuff.

Box Office
Pete Hammond quote iconUltimately Hall Pass is a film about, for and by middle-aged guys. It is at times riotously raunchy and funny but, for the most part, grounded in a sweet reality.

eye Weekly
Rob Duffy quote iconThere’s a cautionary tale embedded deep within Hall Pass, but will anyone be able to find it under all the dirty jokes?
10
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconNo one is going to mistake Hall Pass for an existential, introspective French drama, but there's a little more to this movie about love, marriage, and monogamy than one might glean from the trailers.
15
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconYou can feel your heart sink just watching the trailer.

ScreenIt
T. Durgin quote iconThe movie is definitely a smutty R-rated sex comedy, but it is also surprisingly perceptive in spots about marriage and long-term relationships.

Tomatometer quote iconSome filmgoers may be surprised by the Farrellys' defense of traditional domestic values in Hall Pass -- unfortunately, they'll probably also be dismayed by the absence of laughs.
