A struggling comedy writer is headed for the skids, and gets involved in hard drugs in a misguided attempt to sort out his life. His friends persuade him to go to rehab, which proves to be quite an experience. When he gets out, he eventually gets a job writing a sitcom, which turns to be a challenge. Things go from bad to worse and he starts talking to his fictional characters. To cap it all, his doper buddy from rehab arrives looking for a place to stay. He decides to explore the streets for a while to regain his sanity, with the help of the charming Brenda ...
