Set in the future, technology has progressed to the point where everyone has a robotic version of themselves, which they send into the real world to work and do things, while they sit at home and control it remotely. When an avatar is killed, and its human counterpart also dies, the FBI send in two (robotic) agents. However something goes wrong, and the main investigator finds himself venturing into the real world amongst all the robots, to solve the crime. Meanwhile his wife is at home becoming increasingly emotionally distant ...
