Gloomy Sunday — Ein Lied von Liebe und Tod

During the 1930s, a song called 'Gloomy Sunday' inspired many people to commit suicide. They often had it playing on their phonographs as they checked out. This romantic drama is set in that period. A Jew runs a popular restaurant in Budapest. He is in love with his hostess, and things get interesting when they hire a young piano player. With all the mutual attraction, they settle down into a cosy threesome. One of the customers also has the hots for the hostess, and as World War II draws to a close, he returns, this time in a Nazi uniform. This sets the scene for the showdown.
