Song for a Raggy Boy

In some ways a combination of ''Dead Poets Society'' and ''The Magdalene Sisters'', this movie takes a look at a Irish Catholic reformatory school. Set in 1939, a young teacher, fresh from the horrors of the Spanish Civil War, arrives to teach the boys. He is soon shown to be disdainful of the rules, teaching and treating the boys in his own way, which is starkly at odds with the harsh and brutal treatment meted out by the Catholic priests. If you've seen the two movies mentioned above you'll have a good idea of what to expect. The film is based on a true story.
