The followup to The Decline of the American Empire (1986) reunites many of the same characters, and a few new ones. They gather around the bedside of one of their number who is dying from cancer. The friends and family are soon engaged in discussions about all sorts of things, while the patient shows he is still full of life. The film won numerous awards, including the Best Foreign Language Oscar. French language with English subtitles.
