The Luzhin Defence

Set sometime around the late 1920s, we find the world's greatest chess player in Italy for a match against his biggest rival. Since boyhood, his life has been devoted to chess, making him socially inept. Now here in Italy, he falls in love for the first time, which causes considerable stress and upheaval in his life. Throw in that his former teacher is conspiring to have him lose the match, and the scene is set for gameplay at its best.
