Laetitia Loubser: Tried too much to ride on the Titanic-recipe. It did not work because the characters never developed. I really feel that they tried to make a quick buck out of the '' disaster '' wagon. Good special effects, though it did not save the movie. The American people liked it because they are anxiously looking for a President that is strong and noble. In a way it is America's way of trying to create a good picture of that which does not exist anymore.

Allan Frost: Good Effects, weak story.

Bruce Humphrey: Dissect it which ever way you like - this is one spectacular movie! Vanessa Redgrave has aged gracefully (How many years is it since she starred in Camelot?) and Morgan Freeman is good as the sombre president of the USA. It may be quite contrived but go and see it anyway - you'll be sorry if you miss it!

Mark Morgan: I really enjoyed this movie and have recommended this to a lot of my friends and relatives and people who do not enjoy this movie have no taste !

Charles Ash: What an excellent movie. Special effects, performances, depth, and...the impact it had. Certainly one that will be remembered for a long time.

Stephan Burger: Excellent, unpredictable! Sound incredible!

Robert Haynes: Unequivocally the most powerful film released so far this year. It just shows you it takes a woman to create the ULTIMATE disaster movie. This one does not rely on big visuals to carry the heart rending story but relies on outstanding performances from an ace cast and spot on direction from Mimi Leder. What really frosted my cookies however was nothing to do with the film but rather the AUDIENCE watching it. As the final credits were rolling, the group of guys behind us stood up and said ''Sh..t ....Pretty cool effects hey ? Just a bit long !!!'' This scared me more than anything in the film - that local audiences have the stupidity to start rating their enjoyment levels of a film on the basis of its special effects....HELP US ALL !!!!

Trusha Seetha: Superb!!

Lee Landman: Never lived up to its potential.

Liezel Smit: Totally awesome!!! - It definitely made you think about the importance of life and living it to the fullest.

Pieter Nel: Come Oscar time - this one should be knockin' on the golden statuette's door !!!

Tania van Buren: Makes you think, what would you do with your life if you've got a year to live?

Shaun Myburg: This movie could easily be one of the best disaster movies ever made. It turns out to be more of a human drama than an explosion of special effects, which were non-the-less some of the best ever seen. With heart-wrenching acts of human sacrifice this movie appeals to everyone. A superb cast who each hold their own, and with a surprisingly good performance by a young lady who reminds me of a young Helen Hunt, I feel this movie is one of the greatest ever made.

Kovilan Reddy: An excellent movie to watch. Has got a great spiritual message, therefore I encourage all people to watch and learn their futures in this world.

Rowan Atkins: Good movie worth a watch but you'll come away thinking it could have been so much more.

Daniel Schotter: I have to say this was an awesome movie . It had strong ties to all the characters and you felt as if you knew the people. Loved it all the way.

Andre Swanepoel: Lots of holes in the story.

Nick Soper: I have to admit, this was the best piece of cinematography I have ever seen in my life. I went in to the cinema expecting great special FX, but I was surprised to find myself totally engrossed in the movie from the word ''go''. The stunning FX at the end were merely an added bonus to this masterpiece.

Claire Nicole: Cruddy ending.

Hendrik Van Zyl: Excellent special effects and a very good story line, also the acting was very good.

Sean Geddes: My oh my it sucked....

André Mes: An excellent film that saves itself from, erm, sinking into schmaltz by blending the tragedy and romance of the event into an exciting, thought-provoking, amusing, and at times, sexy tale that epitomises Man's desire to always be better.

Paul van der Westhuizen: Makes you think. It is just not personal enough.

Thomas Kruger: What a waste of time, money and energy. The music was the worst of all. The choice for president was not good. He's been good at all his previous roles, but not this one. The only good effects was the first comet going over the ocean. The rest was not worth all the effort, we've seen it all before, better. I would not recommend it to anyone but those under 13.

Craig Nicholson: Brilliant special effects.

Esti Shackleton: Bad. There's no point to the movie.
