Tamara Drewe

Based on a comic strip which itself was based on Hardy's 'Far From the Madding Crowd,' this is about a young woman's adventures in rural England. It is set in a country village stocked with pompous writers, rich weekenders, bourgeois bohemians, a horny rock star, and assorted livestock.

When Tamara returns to the village of her youth, life for the locals is thrown upside down. She's had a nose job, and been transformed into a devastating beauty.

As infatuations, jealousies, love affairs and career ambitions collide among the inhabitants of the neighbouring farmsteads, she sets a contemporary comedy of manners into play using the oldest magic in the book: sex appeal.
