Anxious to escape the painful memories of a serious accident, teenager Claire McKay (Julia Brendler) is sent to the island home of her mother's ancestors, where she meets the mysterious Celia (Lynn Redgrave), one of only two residents on the sea-swept isle.Sensing the girl's wounded spirit, Celia dares her to listen to a story she has written; a fairy tale about the sea. Haunted by the tale and its parallels to her own life, Claire emerges from her grief to seek the last clue to the mystery in which she has unwittingly become entangled.
