Wesley, (Taylor Thomas) is a juvenile delinquent, who has been in and out of trouble his whole life. Mattie (Burstyn) is at the end of her life and buries herself in activities at her local church. Sensing good qualities in the boy, she decides to practise what she preaches and takes him into her heart and home.
