Two decades later, Carter has become a wealthy and successfull breeder of racehorses in Bluegrass country. Now married to Rosie, he is a pillar of the community in Lexington, Kentucky. By contrast, Vinnie has spent the last twenty years allowing what he considers Carter's betrayal, to eat away at him. He's become a recluse, a loser, a bum who spends his days drinking and watching old movies of days gone by.

This all chages when Vinnie meets Cecilia, a breath of fresh air who reminds him of Rosie as well as the feelings he used to have a long time ago. He decides it's time to change his life by getting revenge on Carter, finding Rosie, and winning her back.
