Northern Lights

A phone call from a stranger informs Roberta that Frank, her estranged younger brother, has passed away. Arriving for his funeral at a small town in New England, she is stunned by Frank's bequest to her -- a nine-year-old son she never knew he had.

Roberta wants nothing to do with young Jack, or with the community of eccentrics that Frank called home. When she tries to find someone to take responsibility for her nephew, Frank's friends offer warmth and kindness, but no means of escape. Forced to understand the meaning of her brother's life, Roberta comes to question the assumptions that shaped her own.
