The Cider House Rules
Homer is an orphan in remote St.Cloud, Maine. Never adopted, he becomes the favourite of orphanage director Dr.Larch, who imparts his full medical knowledge on Homer, who becomes a skilled, albeit unlicensed, physician. But Homer yearns for a self-chosen life outside the orphanage. Homer travels to Maine and finds work on an apple farm, where he meets an array of interesting characters, and falls in love for the first time. As the course of this new life unfolds, Homer's seemingly simple past collides with his more complex present.
