Swing Vote
On his first day on the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Joseph Kirkland must wrestle with the dilemma of pro-choice versus pro-life. His first case deals with a recently-passed federal law banning abortions, by which a young woman has been convicted on felony charges for the murder of her unborn child.Her appeal to the Supreme Court challenges the law's constitutionality and threatens to make a significant impact on society and the laws that support it. When his colleagues' vote results in a tie, Kirkland is put into a position where his swing vote will decide the court's ruling and dictate the law.
