Jakob the Liar
JAKOB THE LIAR is the poignant story of a poor Jewish cafe owner in Nazi occupied Poland in 1944., who accidentally overhears a forbidden news bulletin. signaling Soviet miltary successes against German forces.When Jakob shares this secret within the ghetto, which has been without news since 1939, spirits are lifted and hope is reborn. When pressed for more information, Jakob has to lie, fabricating news of German defeats, American intervention and the possible imminent end to the war. The Germans learn of the mythical radio however, and begin a search for the resistance hero who dares to operate it.
