This Is My Father
Disillusioned schoolteacher, KIERAN JOHNSON (James Caan), find a much-needed reason for a vacation when, rummaging through an old trunk in the attic, he comes across a 50-year-old, faded photo of his mother, FIONA JACKSON clinging with a delighted grin to a strapping young man. The faded words on the back read ''To Fiona, the loveliest of all the lasses. I would love to be your man!'' The photo is signed ''Kieran''. Our Kieran stares at the photo, fascinated by the contrast between this vibrant, young couple and the present Fiona, who sits peaceful yet sad in her bedroom downstairs.The photo starts Kieran on a quest to discover the history of his family's Irish heritage, he finds a couple about his mother's age who smile when Kieran shows them the photo. They know the whole story, and begin to tell it to Kieran. Over the course of the next few days, Kieran listens in rapt attention to the fascinating, romantic and ultimately tragic story.
