Life is Beautiful
This critically acclaimed tour de force is a movie experience you will treasure with all your heart. Life is Beautiful is the fable of Guido, an enchanting character with childlike innocence and grand dreams of owning his own book shop. It's 1939 and he has come to the Tuscan town of Arrezzo. With unabashed humour and joy, he seeks fortune and romance, ignoring the growing anti-Semitism and Fascist government that surrounds him. Guido falls in love with Dora, a beautiful young school teacher and a fairy tale romance ensues.Four years later, in the happiest years of their lives and with a beautiful boy, the fairy tale is shattered when Guido and his son are sent to a concentration camp three months before the war's end. Of her own accord, and out of her love for them, Dora deports herself on the same train. Now, in an unimaginable world, Guido must use his bold imagination and every ounce of his indefatigable spirit to save those he loves. The fact that Guido is determined that his son will never be aware of the horrendous truth that surrounds him, firmly establishes the film's theme of finding life and joy even when there is only darkness and death.
