The Lakeview retirement home is a place where the residents have come to pass through the sunset of their lives in quiet isolation.When Gideon Dobbs (CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT), a young, seemingly simple-minded man, arrives under mysterious circumstances, he enters a melancholy world of fading memories, where the inhabitants are resigned to wait out their remaining days shuffling through an interminable regimen of uninspired monotony. Gideon's angelic demeanour and child-like enthusiasm soon begins to have a rejuvenating effect on the residents. The inhabitants' resulting metamorphosis enables them to rediscover a purpose and self-esteem they had long left behind.
