Dumped by his girlfriend, beaten up by his agent and evicted from his apartment, for aspiring actor Marty, life couldn't get much worse. In a desperate bid for a few bucks he tries to hire the crusty private detective Jack Potter to sue his agent, but for Jack it's cash up front or case dismissed.The cynical detective takes pity on Marty and offers him a space on his couch. Marty senses an exciting new career in the offing and begs Jack to give him a case. Reluctantly, Jack sends him on a routine case to Oregon to spy on a blonde for her jealous husband. With a Ninja throwing star and a can of tear gas for protection, Marty sets off for the back-woods town of Beaver Ridge, where his straightforward case turns out to be anything but.
