A homicide detective investigating a series of brutal murders is gunned down at the scene of the latest crime. Detective Michael D'Angelo, hungover and down and out, allows the killer to escape. Michael's life has spiralled out of control since the love of his life, Theresa Marsh, left him to marry a respected doctor, Peter Marsh. Their lives are about to collide again when Theresa is assigned to prosecute the widely publisiced homicide case.
