There was nothing in particular unusual about the incident except for Whitelaw's excessive friendliness, especially towards Megan. Whitelaw engages the help of his girlfriend, Josie Newman, also a police officer, to tap into the department's computer, where he learns all he needs to know about Megan Turner.

That night, courtesy of internet he finds out even more - and the information becomes the seed of a dangerous obsession. Almost immediately, Whitelaw begins a campaign of sexual pursuit and intimidation from which Megan cannot escape. Keeping the truth from David to avoid upsetting him, Megan tries forcing the cop to leave her alone, but he refuses.
