My Father's War

Die waarheid sal jou vry maak.

My Father's War
This film takes a different kind of look at the bush war during the 1970s and 1980s. A young man is constantly fighting with his father, a veteran of the South African Border war. There seems to be no hope for their relationship. Then he has a series of dreams in which he is a combat soldier in the war, where he meets his father at the same age. Getting to know his father gives the son insight and compassion, and he is able to let go of life-long feelings of abandonment and anger, which leads to forgiveness and a real-life reconciliation. In English and Afrikaans, with English subtitles.
