Houdini was not the only magician to challenge the spiritualists. Around the same time, in England, an Englishman performing as the Chinese Wei Ling Soo had a similar sideline. Persuaded by a friend, the magician goes on a mission to the Côte d'Azur mansion of a wealthy family. He presents himself as a businessman in order to debunk the alluring young clairvoyant who is staying there with her mother. The woman soon has two men, including the magician, persuing her. What follows is a series of events that are magical in every sense of the word and send the characters reeling.
