The latest in the spate of Young Adult novel adapations set in a dismal future, we follow a teenage boy as he travels up a dark lift and is deposited in a field with a group of similar-aged boys. The field is surrounded by a maze, filled with fearful things. None have ever escaped, and several have died trying. As the new arrival settles in, things change, and get even more confusing when a teenage girl, the first ever, arrives to join their battle for survival. This is likely to be the first episode of a trilogy.
