This coming-of-age tale is set during a blistering summer in New York City. When his mother is taken away by the authorities, a 13 year old boy and his 9 year old friend are left to fend for themselves in a rough part of town. The situation forces them to be extremely resourceful while they dodge the childcare services and other hazards of the area.
