A man with problems decides he wants a new life, so he fakes his own death, buys a new identity and hits the road as Arthur Newman. But his road trip is derailed when he meets a young woman with similar issues. She sees through his scam and soon he sees through hers. As they continue on the road together, painful secrets are revealed and their new lives take shape.
