The Lucky One

The Lucky One
On his third tour of duty in Iraq, a U.S. Marine Sergeant finds a photograph of a pretty woman, which seems to bring him good luck. He returns to America and tracks her down, and borrowing an idea from ''Shane,'' ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life (such as her aggressive ex), a romance develops between them, giving him hope that she could be much more than his good luck charm. However, this is a Nicholas Sparks story, so take tissues.

C. Fuchs quote iconIf you enjoy these sorts of melodramas and their rote predictability, and have a track record of letting the waterworks flow based on what transpires therein, you'll probably like The Lucky One.

Tomatometer quote iconWhile it provides the requisite amount of escapist melodrama, The Lucky One ultimately relies on too many schmaltzy clichés to appeal to anyone not already familiar with the Nicholas Sparks formula.
