The Vow

Inspired by true events

The Vow
A young couple recovers from a car accident that has put the wife in a coma. When she wakes up with with severe memory loss, she has no memory of her husband. Accepting the challenge, he sets to work to win her heart again, against the wishes of her parents. The film is ''inspired'' by true events, but they've taken considerable artistic licence.

ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconThe only reason any male could have for seeing The Vow is the hope of getting laid afterwards. The only reason any female could have for seeing The Vow is if she views the plots of Harlequin romance novels as the height of modern storytelling.

Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconThe Vow is a sopping hankie of a romance for women who love to suffer and the men who love them.

ScreenIt
T. Durgin quote iconThere are some nice moments in The Vow. And, yes, ladies. Tatum takes off his shirt throughout. It delivers...uh, some of what you want. Just not enough to recommend today's theater admission prices.

Tomatometer quote iconChanning Tatum and Rachel McAdams do their best with what they're given, but The Vow is too shallow and familiar to satisfy the discriminating date-night filmgoer.
