Set in Los Angeles, a few years after the Rodney King race riots, and in an area notorious for corruption. We follow proceedings through a leading example of policing gone bad, a Vietnam vet, dedicated to doing ''the people's dirty work'' with his own brand of justice. He gets caught on tape beating a suspect, and finds himself in a personal and emotional downward spiral as the consequences of his past sins and his refusal to change his ways in light of a department-wide corruption scandal seal his fate.
