A struggling artist meets an unpredictable young woman only months after his father has passed away. This new love floods him with memories of his father who came out of the closet after his wife of 44 years had passed away, only to discover he had cancer. Nevertheless, he lived his remaining years to the full with a young lover. Now his son tries to emulate that approach to life in his own romance.
