Sara Vizcarrondo quote iconOn the surface Monte Carlo is charming, oddly down-home wish-fulfillment, but it's riddled with unexplored class issues and generic filmmaking. Whatever value it might have had as either travelogue or self-discovery was thrown out in the interest of reaching auds from 8 to 18.

Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconMonte Carlo is a harmless, innocuous tween fantasy that seems constructed out of bits and pieces of movies that we must surely have seen before, but can't quite place because there's nothing much to remember. It's chirpy, it's bright, there are pretty locations and lots happens. This is the kind of movie that can briefly hold the attention of a cat.

T. Durgin quote iconI actually found it to be a decent attempt to give young girls a fun, little fantasy as the boys their age are off watching giant robots pound on each other and lay waste to That Toddlin' Town, Chicago.

Tomatometer quote iconAlthough it has its charming moments, Monte Carlo is mostly silly, predictable stuff that never pushes beyond the boundaries of formula.
