Win Win

In the game of life, you can't lose 'em all.

Win Win
A struggling lawyer sees a way out when an elderly client asks for help. He double-crosses him and starts pocketing his monthly maintenance cheque. However things get complicated when the old man's grandson arrives, and needs a place to stay. He ends up staying with the lawyer, which serves both their needs since the lawyer coaches the school wrestling team, and the kid just happens to be an expert wrestler. (sigh). The new kid helps motivate the team and things start looking up all around, before an unexpected surprise arrives.

Box Office
Pam Grady quote iconWith witty and believable dialogue, a situation that's both funny and sad, and a group of actors that sink into their roles, this is McCarthy's best film yet. Once again, he proves that he is a writer with a grasp of character and story, a warm-hearted, generous chronicler of human connection. With his latest, he certainly got the title right.

Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconI'm happy I saw Win Win. It would have been possible to be happier.
15
eye Weekly
Adam Nayman quote iconIf Win Win’s greatest strength is the shapeliness of its script, that same sense of literary roundness is also its most nagging limitation.

Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconThis movie wins you over, head and heart, without cheating. It's just about perfect.
18
ScreenIt
C. Fuchs quote iconIt might not sound like much on paper or a one line summary of the plot, but it's a tremendous examination of the human condition and, so far, the best movie of 2011.
