Roepman

Roepman
This South African movie is set in a ''poor white'' community in Durban in the 1960s. We follow events through the eyes of an eleven year old boy, whose family is trapped within the structural violence caused by the government and the church at the time. He makes friends with an unlikely hero, who often appears to save him and these acts of kindness are considered to be miracles by the little boy. It is basically a coming-of-age tale and the associated loss of innocence. It is a story with unforgettable characters and it combines the magical world of childhood beautifully with the realistic world we live in. In Afrikaans language.
