Get Low

A true tall tale

Get Low
Based on true events that happened way back in 1938, this character-driven piece features strong performances. A reclusive old man decides to hold his funeral party while he is still alive, as he wants to hear what people have to say about him, as well as revealing a few secrets of his own. The local undertaker, smelling easy money, is more than happy to oblige, and helps persuade all the townsfolk to attend by raffling off the 'deceased' man's property. It will be a party to remember ....

Pam Grady quote iconA deft blend of drama, comedy, mystery, and a touch of romance, this self-financed indie that received the benediction of the Sundance Film Festival as one of its Premieres selections will appeal strongly to a mature audience drawn to robust characters, dry wit, and great performances.

Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconAll of this is just plain enjoyable. I liked it, but please don't make me say it's deeply moving or redemptive and uplifting. It's a genre piece for character actors is what it is, and that's an honorable thing for it to be.

eye Weekly
Jason Anderson quote iconRobert Duvall gives a richly satisfying late-career demonstration of his greatness. The rest of the picture is pretty good, too.

Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconBy the end of this funny, touching and acutely observed film, shot in Georgia by the gifted cinematographer David Boyd and flavored by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek's bluegrass score, Felix reveals his secret heart. And Duvall, without a word wasted or fumbled, holds you in thrall.
