Based on the internationally-bestselling series of children's books, this film owes at least a small debt to the TV series The Wonder Years. Our hero is a young boy in junior high, trying desperately to fit in and be popular. He has to deal with the usual problems of bullies, cliques, a nasty older brother, and friend baggage, while learing important lessons about life.
