A ghost writer is hired to complete the memoirs of a retired British prime minister, after his previous ghost writer turns up dead. The ex-PM is now living in the USA to avoid possible prosecution related to a recent war. As the ghost writer goes about his work, he learns things which make him believe that perhaps his predecessor's death was not accidental... and that his own life is in danger.
