This Tom Cruise vehicle has had a troubled history. Set during the latter part of World War II, it is about an ambitious plot by some Nazi officers to kill Hitler and do a deal with the Allies against Russia. Hitler was busy setting up a 'home guard' under Operation Valkyrie. The plotters aimed to kill Hitler, blame it on the hated S.S., and redirect the home guard into getting rid of the S.S. However, as in all wartime operations, not everything goes according to plan...
