The Day the Earth Stood Still

A remake of a 1951 sci-fi classic, updated for the global warming / species extinction generation. A traveller and a powerful robot arrive from outer space, with a warning for mankind: we are killing the earth, and must stop. The aliens have decided they may need to remove mankind in order to save the Earth. The traveller, who has assumed a human form, decides to get to know mankind better, by befriending a widow and her son. He comes to realise that perhaps mankind is worth saving, but will he be able to convince mankind to change its ways, and persuade the aliens not to destroy humanity? Expect lots of disasterous special effects.
