Eagle Eye
This hectic-paced action thriller takes a look at the rise of pervasive surveillance technology. A young man and a single mom are thrown together after receiving cellphone calls from a mysterious woman, who directs them to do certain things. She uses whatever screen is available where the heroes are, and knows exactly what they are up to wherever they go. Expect non-stop action with plenty of chases and a ridiculous plot. The critics were not impressed, although it seems to be a crowd pleaser.

115 minutes.

Action, Detective/Mystery, Thriller.

Roger Ebert quote iconThe word preposterous is too moderate to describe Eagle Eye. This film contains not a single plausible moment after the opening sequence, and that's borderline.

Adam Nayman quote iconIt’s the sort of thing that only the world’s most malevolent piece of artificial intelligence (or four maladroit screenwriters) could dream up.

James Berardinelli quote iconThere is no truth to the rumor that free frontal lobotomies will be performed at the entrance to all theaters showing Eagle Eye.

Peter Travers quote iconDid everyone involved in this botched thriller OD on speed?

C. Fuchs quote iconI'll admit I was never bored while watching the film (especially once I gave up on holding out hope for the preposterousness to wane) and still like the overriding story concept.
