Prom Night

A night to die for.

Prom Night
Three years ago, a teacher at her school became obsessed with her, and murdered her family so that he could have her. Instead he went to maximum security prison, until he escaped three days ago. The pretty young senior is unaware that he is on the loose, and heads off to her senior prom with her boyfriend and mates. Unfortunately, the killing spree is about to start up again, even though there are cops on the scene this time... The critics were unimpressed.

Philip Brown quote iconHow is it better for young audiences to watch a movie filled with the unmotivated slaughter teenagers simply because the actors don’t take their clothes off or get decapitated? Just because exploitative trash is cleaned up and polished doesn’t mean it isn’t trash. It just means that audiences are denied the few empty pleasures they expect from their garbage. Kind of like if McDonald's sold a sandwich that was just lettuce on a bun.

James Berardinelli quote iconSony is releasing Prom Night under their Screen Gems imprint. Gems? More like turds.
5
ScreenIt
quote iconBeyond its current pop soundtrack, the film offers nothing new in the ways of scares, and is so standard-issue it easily could have come from the 1980s like the first flick. Bland characters and recycled boogeyman material mean this Prom Night won't be one looked back on with any sort of fond memories.

Tomatometer quote iconA dim and predictable remake of an already dull slasher film, this Prom Night fails to be memorable.
