The followup to the highly-regarded ''City of God'' is once again set amongst the dark side of Rio de Janeiro. Two friends, on the point of adulthood, are torn apart by an event in their past. They end up following different life paths, one into a life of crime, the other not. Between troubles with a girlfriend and baby, they find themselves caught up in a vicious war between rival drug gangs, as they try to stay alive and rebuild their relationship.
