Ivan Sadler quote iconNot perfect by any means and the more cynical among us will find the sugary ending enraging, but it will fill the gap while we wait for the next installments of Narnia and Harry Potter.
10
Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconThe Spiderwick Chronicles is a terrific entertainment for the whole family, except those below a certain age, who are likely to be scared out of their wits.

ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconThere are some scary moments but they're not that scary and the violence is muted by the ways in which it is shot and presented.

quote iconWhile purposefully not epic in stature like the Potter and Rings flicks, the film works in its smaller scale, decently mixing action, frights and some comedy.
