Set back in the 1970s, and based on a true story, this is yet another sports-underdog movie, set in the world of swimming. An ex swimming champ arrives at his new job at a recreation centre. He is there to close it down. He gets sidetracked by an old empty pool, which he fills up and cleans. Soon the local kids are taking dips, and before he knows it, he is teaching them the finer points of swimming. The bunch of misfits decide they've got what it takes to enter a major swimming competition... where they will be the only black team in a pool of whites.
