What the Critics say

Cape Argus / The Star
Helen Herimbi quote iconYep, I Am Legend is definitely worth seeing but, unfortunately, it isn't good enough to make the top 100 films list — anywhere.
10
Cape Times
Carina Chocano quote iconHigh-octane apocalyptic joyride.
10
The Citizen
Bruce Dennill quote iconBasically 28 Days Later moved to New York, Will Smith may have opted to take this on purely because his main competition for onscreen attention is a German Shepherd. To be fair, though, the dog holds its own.
10
Sunday Times
Barry Ronge quote iconPretty hard to find much to praise.
5
Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconThe movie works well while it's running, although it raises questions that later only mutate in our minds.
15
eye Weekly
Adam Nayman quote iconWhat we have here is about two-thirds great and one-third awful, and in that order.
10
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconThere's a key event that occurs just past the hour mark and, after that, the movie feels more like a typical Hollywood adventure than the introspective, thought-provoking production that graces the screens for the first 65 minutes.
15
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconWhat you need to know is that Big Willie has no problem holding the screen.
